Big News for the Metro East Region

Besides some awesome Ultimate, some big news came out of Columbus this past weekend for our region. Pitt represented our section well by going on a tear of victories that got them into the Quarterfinals against Carleton (Whom they almost beat to get to the Semis). Also, from the Metro East, Cornell also played well by advancing to the pre-Quarters against Pitt.

What does all this mean? The Metro East's strong finish gives them an additional "strength" bid into Nationals next year. So instead of 2 teams,  3 teams get bids next year.

This is just another reason for the Goats to keep fighting to get to that second level of the College series because all you'd need is one hard push at Regionals and we could find ourselves playing at College Natties.

Some Helpful Tips From the West

Hey boys and girls,

For those of you that don't know me, my name is Simon Jarrett and I was the captain of the Goats for the 2008 season. I have since moved on to Denver, CO where I am currently playing with a lot of experienced players. Basically I am offering you kids some advice; if your interested that is. I am going to throw this post out there as a test. If I get any responses or emails saying you want more, then I'll keep it coming. If not, then I will use my time in other ways (Like trying to convince Debbie to leave Finch because I'm a much better catch). Anyways, a captain (and former Bravo Defensive Captain) of one of the teams I am playing with sent out a link to a blog about cutting. It is really basic stuff, but a lot of us forget the basics late on Sunday during the games that matter. So just read it over and see if it helps you as you play through the summer months.

Rules for Cutting

Also, again if you are interested, I have been doing track workouts with Bravo for the past month or so and am more than willing to pass them on to whoever would like to give them a go. They are great workouts that touch on all aspects of the game. Also only take about an hour or less to do, but you feel like you have been running all day when your done. Alright, I'm out of here.

Go Nuggets! Jumping on the band wagon!

Wildwood Beach Ultimate 2009

Leach already sent out an email but to reiterate, bids are already being accepted for WWBU. Some Goats have played in this tournament for the last 4 years and each year is better then the last. This is by far one of the funnest tournaments you can play for the year, so get some friends together and form a team, you won't regret it.

The History of Shippensburg Ultimate

The start of the Scapegoats began a decade ago under the name "Living Sacrifice." It began as a group of people who just got together to play Ultimate with one another. In 2000 the team name changed to the Ship Flickers for one year and then the following year we adopted our current, permanent name, the Shippensburg Scapegoats. For most of the team's existence, we played simply for fun without it being taken seriously. In 2003, the Scapegoats took their first stab at competive play and began having structured practices, entering into tournaments, and were officially recognized by the UPA. In 2004, a core group of returning veterans, a hungry recruiting class, and the addition of a coach laid the solid foundation for the program as it exists today.......
